6616PAMS is an annual multinational military seminar providing a forum for senior-level (lieutenant colonel to major general, or national equivalent) officers from regional ground forces and security forces to exchange views. It is not only a forum to further understanding of subjects studied, but also an opportunity to establish and enhance a set of strong interpersonal relationships among the future leaders of regional armies and security forces. The Parties, The Field Commander West, Malaysian Army and Commanding General, United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), serve as the co-host for PAMS XL. READ MORE

photo 2016 09 27 09 53 02Firstly, I would like to thank the Malaysian Armed Forces and especially the Chief of the Malaysian Army, for inviting me today to share my views on our topic, “Unity of Effort: Building Civil-Military Partnerships to Counter Violent Extremism”. It is an honour for me to address such a distinguished gathering, consisting of a wide spectrum of vocation as well as expertise. Moreover, the subject we are deliberating is current, one which has been weighing heavily of the minds of security policy makers and practitioners the world over. This notable seminar has grown into a very important, significant and invigorating event since the first PAMS session was held in Honolulu in September 1978. PAMS has earned numerous acclaims, recognitions and respects since its inception. In addition, what is more important is that PAMS has paved the way in strengthening the social and bonding interactions among military personnel in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
